The Higher Education Economic Growth and Regional Development Conference 2021 will explore how research agendas and funding can be directed to support regional economic growth and the government’s ambitious “levelling up” agenda. The Conference will explore how research programmes can be used to tackle regional disparities, how collaboration between universities and businesses can be improved and the role of universities and research leaders in meeting the needs of recovering local economies.

The Conference will also examine how regional growth can be placed at the heart of the Covid-19 recovery and assess what regional economies will look like after the crisis. The Conference will also offer urgent answers to major questions on the future of structural funding for regional economic growth and explore what to expect from the government’s new Shared Prosperity Fund.
