The REF Breakdown will offer a detailed opportunity to examine the results and outcomes from REF 2021 following their release on the 12th May 2022. The Conference will be the first opportunity for participants to hear detailed analysis from leading experts on core trends and patterns with the results and what the exercise tells us about research activity across the sector.

The Conference will also allow participants to engage in a number of deep dive workshops exploring how they can interpret the results and operationalise them into their strategic planning.

This update from Research England will offer a detailed analysis of REF 2021 following the result release on 12th May 2022. The session will examine overall quality profiles, sub-profiles and the proportion of Category A staff made in submissions.

The update will explore:

  • Performance across the sector and the headline results
  • Evaluation at unit of assessment level
  • Outcomes and insights from the assessment panels
  • Next steps following the result release including confidential feedback on submissions, submissions data and reports from the assessment panels
