This interactive online School Finance training event will explore how to overcome the financial impact of COVID-19 in your educational setting.

3 DAY TRAINING EVENT

DAY 1: Recovery and Reallocation | July 7th 2021

DAY 2: Innovative Income Generation and Partnerships | July 8th 2021

DAY 3: Implementation Workshop | 15th July 2021

This interactive online School Finance training event will explore how to overcome the financial impact of COVID-19 in your educational setting, create financial strategies for new priorities, and learn about the income generation landscape in a post-COVID era.

Designed for strategic, operational and financial leads of maintained, academy and independent schools, participants will be provided with the opportunity to share your key concerns and challenges ahead of the training, to ensure this is as tailored to your needs as possible. This will be further supported by the follow-up implementation workshop that will accompany the 2-day core training.

The pandemic has required additional spending on unexpected costs, such as PPE and technology, and financial loss due to an inability to run services usually paid for by parents, particularly at EYFS. But there has also been an opportunity for some savings, including on utility bills, plus additional funding provided by the government to support educational delivery and help facilitate on-going catch-up efforts. As such, join with colleagues and education finance and fundraising experts before the end of this school year to understand how to balance your priorities, efficiently manage resources, and plan for the long term recovery and delivery of education.

Learning objectives:

  • Determine what financial recovery and resilience means for your school and trust post-pandemic
  • Plan how to financially deliver new services and priorities through the next academic year, such as whole-school mental health support
  • Discuss how to utilise new streams of government funding, including the catch-up premium and buildings improvement fund, to ensure the greatest impact for your pupils
  • Reflect on previous school improvement plans and how to align pre-pandemic priorities with post-pandemic financial circumstances
  • Review planned expenditure in the short and medium term, and how to consider long term spending plans, for effective resource management
  • Learn about new income generation paths, and how to determine which avenues will work well in your local context
  • Discover how to work in partnership with other schools and organisations including charities and businesses, to support your financial recovery and longer term financial management

  • Review planned expenditure in the short and medium term to best serve current needs, balancing catch-up efforts with returning to ‘normal’ delivery of education
