Final Few Places: Whole School SEND Training for Independent Schools

Following the sell-out Independent Schools SEND Conference that took place in April 2022, we have developed this follow-up one-day online training with expert SEND teacher, Amanda Ross-Scott, to help teachers, leaders and SENCOs from across the Independent Schools sector take the next step in delivering quality provision, and meeting the needs of every child and young person with SEND.

New IG Schools Hub Partner: Introducing SPECIAL NEEDS COMMUNITY CIC

We are delighted to announce our new partnership with SNC CIC, who we are working with to improve and expand the knowledge and support we can share around SEND to our schools community and stakeholders more widely. SNC was established in 2017 as a community interest company, but have a history in the SEND sector going back to the launch of Aiming High for Disabled Children initiative in 2008. They are a parent-led, family support organisation, formed out of the local parent carer forum, in Northwest London, with extensive lived experience of SEND. Their collective experience and expertise working with local and national government agencies, health partners, SEND charities, schools, and parents from all walks of life informs their bank of knowledge of SEND provision. SNC believe in looking at the bigger picture, working together with all the parts that make up our special needs community.

Testimonials

I found this a great environment to build links with teachers and to stimulate debate with others. The ideas that came out of these discussions and from best practice will have a direct effect on Teaching and Learning in my school.

Attended Online SEND Conference 2020 - I would opt for online again…as I only work part time and have health needs so this is more flexible and far less exhausting than a trek to London. The (content) was incredibly useful.

I came away from the day not only with an enriched sense of what character education looks like, but also of why it is so important to teach in schools. Great speakers, good venue, and a positive experience all round.

A interesting and insightful day, listening to a range of knowledgeable speakers with varied backgrounds in the delivery of primary MFL across school. I was especially interested in listening to the trends of teaching MFL to young learners and the requirements of the new OFSTED framework. It has challenged me and inspired me to look at my teaching of MFL.
