Head of Digital Education - Keele University

Catherine Chambers is Head of Digital Education at Keele University. She leads a team of learning technologists, flexible curriculum designers, producers and content developers in the design and development of new programmes and formats, providing pedagogic guidance on the use of technology in learning design.

Her background spans broadcast, digital content, online learning and academia – all of which has informed her approach to designing engaging learning experiences. Following a stint as a music journalist she produced live programmes and multi-platform content for BBC Radio before moving into higher education, working for the Open University, achieving 75 million downloads as editorial lead of the OU’s iTunes U channel and helping to launch the OU’s inaugural MOOCs on FutureLearn. She has also worked as a Lecturer in Media Production at Birmingham City University, embedding technology enhanced learning in face-to face teaching, and as Head of Learning Experience design at Nesta

Her passion lies in exploring creative approaches to designing learning journeys, in particular the role of storytelling in scenario and case-based learning experiences to increase engagement and retention.
