Jess Asato is Head of Public Affairs and Policy at SafeLives, leading the organisation’s engagement with Government, policymakers, and other key stakeholders on the Domestic Abuse Bill. Jess previously worked as a Political Adviser to Dame Tessa Jowell MP and as a policy researcher at the Social Market Foundation think tank. Jess was a Parliamentary candidate in a marginal seat in 2015 and an elected Councillor in Islington from 2010-2013.  She is a Trustee of the Linacre Institute which supports disadvantaged students to get into the best universities and a Mentor for the Fabian Women’s Network Women in Public Life mentoring programme. She studied Law at Trinity Hall College in Cambridge.
