Marieke Widmann

Policy & Practice Adviser, Refugee and Migrant Children - The Children's Society
Marieke Widmann is Policy and Practice Adviser for Refugee, Asylum-seeking and Migrant children at The Children’s Society, leading the organisation’s advocacy work on the EU Settlement Scheme, the no recourse to public funds (NRPF) policy, and the Nationality and Borders Bill as well as working with the young campaigners of the Youth-led Commission for Separated Children. A U.S. trained lawyer, she began her career as a litigator in New York, where she represented unaccompanied young people in securing refugee status. Since moving to the UK ten years ago, Marieke has held a number of roles in the third sector: Project Manager with the AIRE Centre, Project Director of FLEX (Focus on Labour Exploitation), Project & Development Manager at Just for Kids Law, and Strategic Adviser, Policy and Advocacy at SOS Children UK before her current role.
