Professor John Holford

Robert Peers Chair in Adult Education, University of Nottingham - Editor, International Journal of Lifelong Education

John Holford has spent his career in adult and higher education, with the Workers’ Educational Association, the Universities of Hong Kong, Surrey, and Nottingham, where he is now Robert Peers Professor of Adult Education. In 2019 he was joint secretary to the Centenary Commission on Adult Education, which made important recommendations for reconstructing adult education fit for the 21st century. Editor of the International Journal of Lifelong Education, he has written and researched on lifelong learning policy, especially in Britain and Europe. He recently organised the University of Nottingham’s online learning in lockdown programme for adults.
