Rachel Sandby-Thomas

Registrar - University of Warwick

Rachel joined the University of Warwick as Registrar in September 2016 and is responsible for the Professional Services of the University and the University Strategy, Excellence with Purpose. Rachel sits on the Executive Committee of AHUA, the Registrars’ network and its Training and Development Committee.

Outside of HE, she is Vice Chair of LEAP Confronting Conflict and a trustee of The Whitehall & Industry Group, the ‘Future-Fit’ Foundation and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts Academies. She is a Governor of the Warwickshire College Group, and a Freeman of The Goldsmiths’ Company and the City of London.

Prior to joining Warwick, Rachel was shadow CEO of the UK Government’s Institute for Apprenticeships and Director General in the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills for 8 years. She was made a Companion of the Order of the Bath in 2012, named as one of the 2016 FTSE 100 “Women to Watch” and The Times 100 “Most Influential Lawyers”, 2012. Rachel graduated from St. Catharine’s College, Cambridge with a double first class honours in Law.
